Here we go!

Well I'm finally sitting down at my temporary office aka Starbucks to share some exciting news.

We have moved out of our home to begin a big renovation! Yippee!! I'm so excited to share this news and the coming months of renovation updates with you. I hope you'll enjoy following along.

Ok so here we go, a before and after of the back of the house.
The back exterior is the area changing the most.

Excuse the mess! There was a lot of purging and some of the evidence was piled up in this photo awaiting removal. The lovely green fencing is required by the City of Toronto. If you embark on a renovation you too will be lucky enough to have your own. It  comes in a "lovely" neon orange too.

We are doing extensive renovations to the interior of the house. The bulk of the work will occur on the main floor.

We have been working with Simon West of InHouse Designs since last summer planning this renovation. He has been fabulous. A talented Designer/Architect. Interesting fact: He also happens to be the Architect behind the hit TV show Love it or List it

So this is the friendly crew from Storage Stadium who moved us out of the house. If you are renovating or in need of storage these guys are amazing. They come and move your stuff out of the house into a big crate and take it away to their warehouse. When you are ready to move it back, they bring it all back and into your house. Amazing service. Competitive pricing that is comparable to what you would pay for a standard storage facility.

I'm almost ready to share the kitchen elevations. However, I'm still making some last minute decisions. I'll share some more plans and before pics of that soon.

Easy Dipped Table Vases

Need a cheap and cheerful table decor idea?
I'm sharing an easy DIY over at Wedding Bells today.

It's simple and you can reinvent these using different vases and jars. Mason jars would be great too!

I thought I'd share some of these lovely images
from Wedding Bells new Special Edition Weddings.
It's an absolutely stunning book full of inspiration for your weddings, showers and more. I'm so excited to have contributed a few little goodies for it! You can see them below.

My contribution ... the wood veneer tags.
... the hand-made paper rosettes and fabric button napkin ring.

Weddings is available on newstands now. I think this would make a great gift for a newly engaged bride!

Change is in the air...

So I have a little news that I am very excited to share with you today. I've been waiting until everything was finalized...and it is...we are starting a BIG renovation of our home in less than two weeks!

I am so excited and truth be told, a little overwhelmed at what will be unfolding over the next months. It has been in the works for a year! It's hard to believe it is actually happening.

We have been working with our Architect to design an addition to our home and a renovation of the existing interior. It's a pretty big job (by our standards) and over the next couple of weeks I will be revealing more about our plans and share some before pictures. Our home is nearing it's 100th birthday and is ready for it's rejuvenation.

We have been busy little bees in our house purging and packing. It's a lot of work packing up an entire house. It's amazing how many things you collect over the years. John and I bought our little semi-detached home in Toronto's leafy west end about 14 years ago as newlyweds. I'm a collector and when you add two children into the mix that equals a lot of stuff!

Our local Goodwill (they recognize me now) has become the benefactor of our stuff. I love how it will find a new home. Boxes of vintage finds were unearthed from my basement during this purge I have to say very little made the cut to actually leave. I have plans for it all.. I do.

I'm looking forward to working on some DIY projects this summer to prepare for our "new" home. Some of this will include refinishing our mid-century modern dining room table and chairs and repurposing some other antique heirlooms.

I'm looking for four more of these chairs!

I'm eager to get my hands on Matthew Meads newest book Flea Market Finds. I have a feeling it will be full of inspiration and projects that I can incorporate into our home.
If you love vintage like I do take a sneak peak at this video to see a little bit of what's inside the 160 pages of
Flea Market Finds with Matthew Mead.

You can purchase Flea Market Finds via (link: ) for delivery directly to your mailbox. And be sure to leave Matthew a comment letting him know you watched it for a chance to win one of FOUR $100 Visa gift cards!

Good luck! I know I could use a Visa gift card right about now ;)
